Behind Closed Doors

Updated: May 5, 2020

I thought the church always prayed for open doors? What is the value to a closed door?

One of the polarizing elements of this COVID-19 pandemic is the fact that we repeatedly hear conflicting reports. "Don’t where a mask." "Where a mask." Two more weeks will flatten the curve, only to be extended again.

Social media is rife with self-proclaimed causes and cures. Everyone has become an authority. Both political leaders and health professionals are grasping to keep ahead of the pandemic's pace - their opinions and directives ever evolving. Just this week, I heard them correct a previous quote by the same individual — stating that now, due to the latest developments, is completely erroneous.

To which someone will reply: “That didn’t age well.”

Sadly, this happens with spiritual leaders also. Someone forwarded me a recording of a TV evangelist rebuking the coronavirus and proclaiming that America had been healed - at that very moment (early April). The problem is, thousands more people have died since that supposed moment of divine intervention.

To which I reply: “That didn’t age well.”

As a result, the masses begin to tune them out — and, sadly…

The clarity of TRUTH is swallowed up by the din of deception, unintended or otherwise.

Today's simple message: Jesus is coming again.

If we ever needed to hear a message that "age's well" it is now. The catching away of the saints (rapture) and the futuristic return of Jesus Christ is an imminent reality. The Lord shall descend, and we shall ASCEND. We will be CAUGHT up together to meet the Lord in the air. What comforting words during these trying times (1 These. 4:18).

When the rapture takes place, there will be no second chance options. It will happen in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. It will interrupt work schedules; it will upend family vacations; it will disrupt plans.

The atmosphere of the global community will change in an instant, upon the removal of every born-again believer from the world. They won’t meet us at the grocery stores any more; they won’t run into us at the Wal-Mart or the country market. No more responses to text messages. Phone calls never returned.

The church is RAPTURED. We are GONE.

Why A Closed Door?

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Matthew 24:32-33

Matthew's choice of words is intriguing. A prophetic pattern emerges, as we look through the lens of scripture. Whenever judgment was being poured out, God put His church behind a closed door. This is unique for the church. We spend the majority of our time praying that God gives us "open doors" -- but in seasons like this, we are being introduced to concept that God does some of His greatest work behind closed doors.

  • Noah was thankful for a closed door on the ark.

  • The prophet Isaiah was thankful for a closed door, as the indignation of God was poured out upon the land. (Isaiah 26:20-21)

  • The lady with a dead son, was grateful that the prophet went in and "closed the door".

  • The widow that was facing foreclosure due to her debt, was grateful that the oil started flowing when "the door closed".

  • Israel was thankful for closed doors, on the night Egypt was visited by the death angel.

As we look ahead, we realize that there is an open door slowly closing. That is the door of redemption. In the same way that after 120 years of construction, God shut the door to the ark... the door to the church age is closing.

Don't Wait Too Late

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Matthew 25:8-12

In this prophetic parable, there were ten virgins. Five wise. Five foolish. Interestingly, they all had lamps; they were all virgins; they even all slumbered. Yet, five were wise and five were foolish.

Before the bridegroom returned, all that separated the wise from the foolish was oil.

You do not want to be in the company of the five foolish virgins. After the clarion call of the bridegroom's friend, they realized their oil supply was deficient and their lamps would not light. After their mad dash through town (at midnight), they returned to find the door closed.

After the bridegroom returned, all that separated the wise from the foolish was a closed door.

This Is Dress Rehearsal

The Covid-19 crisis has been a dress rehearsal for the day when the church will be raptured.

The church has been raptured "within the earth" instead of "from the earth".

People are driving by our churches on Sunday mornings, and the yards are empty. No ushers at the door; no prayerful pre-service music; no one on the pews; no choir to sing; no preacher to preach; no altars at which to pray.

Please do not wait until the doors are closed, to begin preparing yourself. While it is day, check your oil supply. ToDAY is the day of salvation. If you have never received the baptism of the Holy Ghost (oil), move while the door is still opened.

Never miss an episode of Kingdom Speak.
